Oak Hill Middle School is located in a residential neighborhood in the Southern part of Newton, literally next door to the Brown Middle School. Some 649 students attend Oak Hill.
Oak Hill opened in 1936 and was renovated in 2021. The project added three classrooms and two small group and individualized learning spaces, and a new single story, 5,000 square foot addition on the southwest corner of the existing school and fronting on Wheeler Road. In addition, a new fitness center was added.
The Oak Hill Middle School offers a number of athletic programs to students including cross country, soccer, flag football, and badminton in the fall; basketball in the winter; and track and field, baseball, softball, lacrosse and ultimate frisbee in the spring. There are a number of after school enrichment / extra-curricular activities during and after school too.
The MBTA 52 bus stops at Wheeler Road and Meadowbrook Road in front of Oak Hill Middle School. The 52 travels from Watertown Yard to Washington Street in Newton, over the Massachusetts Turnpike to Centre Street where it makes a number of stops before picking up Parker Street, going over Route 9, and turning onto Wheeler Road.
