Located off of Washington Street in the Nonantum neighborhood, Lincoln-Eliot School is home to some 336 students.
Lincoln-Eliot is contiguous with Boyd Park, a narrow park that’s about an acre in size and contains a basketball court, playground and tot-lot.
The school is a short jaunt to the Newtonville station Framingham/Worcester commuter train which stops at Back Bay and South Station in Boston. It’s also close to Watertown, the entrance to the Mass Pike, and Nonantum Road, which runs parallel to the Charles River. Perhaps the main draw in the area is Washington Street, home to a variety of commercial activity including supermarkets like Whole Foods and Trader Joes, Cabot’s, Mida, and the awesome pizza at Max and Leo’s.
Newton continues to invest heavily in its schools. Lincoln-Eliot is being rebuilt and construction is expected to be complete by the summer of 2025. It is one of five elementary schools in Newton undergoing or slated to undergo renovations. That’s in addition to the three recently completed elementary school renovation projects (Angier, Cabot, Zervas).
It should be noted that Lincoln-Eliot is the only elementary school where bus service is not provided.
Lincoln-Eliot is in a densely populated area of the city, and a few buildings down the road from the Newton Early Childhood Program on Jackson Road, which intersects with Pearl Street, which is where the entrance to Lincoln-Eliot is accessed.
This is an area of Newton where land is at a premium. However, there are a number of new, beautiful condos in the area and more are being built.
