Established in 1880, Newton Country Day School is one of the oldest independent Catholic girls' schools in New England and resides on beautifully landscaped grounds.

Located across the street from Mount Alvernia High School on Centre Street, Newton Country Day serves girls in grades 5-12. The school is divided into two parts: a middle school for 5th-8th graders; and an upper school for high school students (grades 9-12).

The average class size is 12-15 and the student to teacher ratio is 8 to 1. The school teaches, french, latin, and spanish to middle and high school students, while high school students are also afforded the opportunity to learn mandarin.

In the Middle School, girls are assigned by grade to technology classes that use class-based and cross-curricular technology projects to hone their skills in graphic design, animation, 3-D modeling, computer programming and Lego® robotics. In the Upper School, students are offered the opportunity to learn introductory engineering and computer programming skills.

Visual arts, theatre, dance, music and performances are all part of the education offered to students.

From an athletics perspective, Newton Country Day has 38 teams competing in 14 sports - crew, cross country, field hockey, soccer, and volleyball in the Fall; basketball, dance, hockey and squash in the winter; and crew, golf, lacrosse, sailing, softball, and tennis in the spring.

Newton Country Day belongs to a national and international network of schools which allows students to participate in a variety of programs including the opportunity to engage in a six-week reciprocal exchange. In recent years students from countries including Australia, Austria, Chile, England, France, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, Peru, South Korea, and Taiwan have shared an exchange with Newton Country Day.
