The Chestnut Hill School, founded in 1860, is a small school that serves some 230 children. It's divided into three schools and open to Pre-K through 6th grade students. The early childhood program is open to children ages 3 through Kindergarten; lower school educates kids in 1st-3rd grades; and the upper school is for 4th-6th grade learners. The Chestnut Hill School has a 6 to1 student to faculty ratio.

The Chestnut Hill School offers round trip transportation to several surrounding communities, including Brookline. In the summer it doubles as a summer camp.

Opened in 1860, The Chestnut Hill School is located in an affluent Chestnut Hill neighborhood steps from the MBTA D-Line Chestnut Hill stop. A driveway leads uphill to the campus which overlooks Hammond Street.
