Cabot School is among the largest elementary schools in Newton by student population. Some 414 students attend Cabot which was completely renovated in 2017 and reopened in 2019, preserving some of the existing structure from 1928-29. This modern three-floor school is in the village of Newtonville between Eastside Parkway and Bridges Avenue, not far from the Massachusetts Turnpike for those needing to drive to downtown Boston or points west.
Cabot School serves students as far west as Lowell Avenue to as far east as Centre Street. If you are relying on public transportation to get to work or to the school, the closest MBTA bus stop is either the 59 stop at Walnut and Otis Street that runs from Watertown through Newton to Needham and is about half a mile from the school, or the 52 stop at Cabot and Centre Street, about .7 miles away from the school.
Adjacent to the Cabot School is Cabot Park, an 11.6 acre green space with baseball fields, tennis courts, soccer fields, and play structures. The park is active and hosts dogs off leash in one part from 7 AM until dusk year-round.
Located in the village of Newtonville, Cabot School homes range from modest to vast and everything in between. The school is situated in a neighborhood away from commerce activities. The nearest commercial area is located on Walnut Street, about a mile away and features the likes of Down Under Yoga, Los Amigos Taqueria, Starbucks, Caffe Nero, and Star Market.
