The Bowen Elementary School is a two-story building that serves some 325 students in grades K-5. Located between Route 9 and Newton Centre, closer to Route 9, Bowen is one of the smallest Newton Elementary Schools by student population.
Bowen school serves students from Hammond Pond Parkway as far West as Centre Street, which intersects with Beacon Street in Newton Centre.
The closest public transportation to Bowen is the Newton Centre Green Line D Train Stop, a roughly 10 minute walk. Newton Centre offers a lot of restaurants, cafes and shopping just a few minutes by car.
Residential houses on Cypress Street border Bowen but the school’s boundaries are setback quite a distance and surrounded by green space. The Bowen School Playground is nearly 9 acres and features a playground, two and a half basketball courts, a baseball field and soccer field.
Homes in the area are more of the urban variety. You can’t beat the location of Bowen if you want to live close to Newton Centre and have your child attend public school.
